Cesar Ruiz is an offensive lineman for the Michigan Wolverines football team who is playing his freshman season for the 2017 Michigan Wolverines football team. As a freshman, Ruiz appeared in ten games, six of which he started at right guard.[1] In addition to playing offensive line, he appeared on special teams in eight games.[2]
Early years[edit]
Cesar Ruiz grew up in Pennsauken, New Jersey and began his high school career at Camden High School. [3]He quickly became one of the nation's top centers, and transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida prior to his junior football season.[4] Anchoring the offensive line, he helped to lead IMG Academy to undefeated seasons in both as both a junior and a senior.[5] Cesar Ruiz was invited to the 2017 Under Armour All-America Game, where he played on Team Highlight,[6] as well as the Opening Finals in Beaverton, Oregon[7]. As a senior he was a USA Today All-USA Florida second-team offensive lineman and a second-team MaxPreps All-American.[8] He was the top center in the nation according the 247Sports.com composite rankings. [9]Ruiz received over offers from over thirty colleges, including Auburn, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, and Clemson, and committed to Michigan on December 19, 2016.[10] He was recruited by Chris Partridge[11] and had many ties to the Michigan football program with his cousin Brad Hawkins committed to Michigan and friend Ron Johnson already on the team.[12]

2017 season[edit]
Cesar Ruiz appeared in ten games for the 2017 Michigan Wolverines football team, starting six games at right guard. He earned his first start against Minnesota on November 4, 2017. Ruiz went on the start the last four games for the 2017 Michigan Wolverines football team at right guard while also contributing on special teams.[13]He looks to improve on his freshman campaign with new offensive line coach Ed Warriner and return to his traditional center position for the 2018 Michigan Wolverines football team. [14]
