Background and Career

Reep was born in Missoula, Montana on April 5, 1983.[2] He earned his Bachelor of Music Education at The University of Montana, located in his hometown of Missoula, and was hired as Director of Bands at Big Sky High School in the same city.[1] After three years at Big Sky High School, Reep began attending graduate school at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia for Music in Wind Conducting. During his student career at James Madison University, Reep became graduate assistant to the Marching Royal Dukes. After graduation, Reep was made Director of Athletic Bands at James Madison University. In his position as Director of Athletic Bands, Reep served as director of the JMU Pep Band and Assistant Director of the Marching Royal Dukes. During his tenure as director of the JMU Pep Band, he fostered a newly revitalized atmosphere of enthusiasm, garnering interest from the university and the public.[3] While working at James Madison University, Reep would also periodically direct ensembles for Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.[4] Reep remained in this position until 2017 after a shift in leadership opinion.[5] He went on to accept his current position of Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at Virginia Tech, where he assists in the directing of The Marching Virginians.

As an instructor, Reep has received generally positive feedback from students and faculty.[6] His effective leadership skills allow for flourishing student creativity, as well as extended public outreach. [7]
