Chakra (Japanese: チャクラ) was a Japanese New Wave band.[1][2]
History[edit]
Singer Mishio Ogawa joined the newly formed band as a 19-year-old in 1978 after attending vocalist auditions.[3] In 1980 Chakra released their debut album "Chakra", produced by Makoto Yano. The album's first track "Fuku no tane" was released as a single in June 1980, with the album's second track "Mannequin" as the B-side.[4]
Their second album "Satekoso" was released in November 1981. It was produced by Haruomi Hosono[5] and nine of the ten tracks were composed by guitarist Bun Itakura.[6] Their third album "Nanyo de yoisho" was released in 1983. After a final concert at the Aoyama Tower Hall, the band broke up.[7]
A 30th anniversary edition of "Satekoso" was released in 2011 with five bonus tracks mainly comprising early takes of tracks on the album.[8]
