Chalkboard Review.[1] is an education commentary website that focuses on publishing articles from educators and industry experts.
History
Founded by Daniel Buck and Tony Kinnett, Chalkboard Review launched on November 23rd, 2020[2]. The release of the website included a video interview with Max Eden of the Manhattan Institute, an article by James Lindsay[3], and op-eds from various teachers in the United States. The website has continuously published numerous articles a week from a variety of political, economic, and cultural viewpoints—claiming as their motto “everyone is a stakeholder in education.”
Daniel Buck is a middle school English teacher with a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He has written for various publications including National Review[4], City Journal, the Fordham Institute[5], Quillette, and the Claremont Institute’s American Mind. He has also been seen on Fox News[6].
Tony Kinnett is the Executive Director of Choice Media and Chalkboard Review and was formerly the Science Coordinator and K–12 Head Instructional Coach for Indianapolis Public Schools, with an M.A.Ed. in Curriculum Development & Education Technology from Ball State University. Additionally, he has classroom experience in inner-city, rural, public, and private schools, and he was a junior policy advisor to Gov. Scott Walker. He has written for National Review[7], FEE, and the Washington Examiner. He has also been a guest on Tucker Carlson Tonight[8] as well as Fox & Friends[9].
Activity
In July 2021, Chalkboard Review created a “critical race theory toolkit[10]” to teach parents, teachers, administrators, and others how to combat the ideology and its history.
In August 2021, the website released a report on how private school enrollment numbers had drastically increased in the 2020–2021 and the 2021–2022 school year. This report was picked up by multiple outlets.
In December 2021, Tony Kinnett was fired by Indianapolis Public Schools for speaking out against the school district’s teaching of critical race theory and publishing documents. Originating with Chalkboard Review, this story was picked up by a myriad of publications. This includes the Daily Mail, Fox News[11], The Hill[12], and Washington Examiner[13].

Teacher’s Lounge
