Dr. Chang C. Chen, aka Qiu Zhang, is a California lawyer, author and curator of the critically acclaimed exhibition, “Herstory - The Legal History of Chinese American Women."[1] Through her writings, books, television shows and a brief political career, she became a well-known women’s rights advocate in Taiwan and in the Chinese communities in the U.S. She was born April 20, 1950, in Kaoshiung, Taiwan.

Dr. Chang wrote more than 60 books, about topics ranging from law to marriage to Feng Shui. Her most important books are those involving the legal history of Chinese Americans, especially Chinese American women, including “Herstory - The Legal History of Chinese American Women” and “Herstory 2”, as well as eleven books under “The Series of Oral History of Chinese American women”. All books are categorized by WorldCat.org and have been collected by at least 13 major universities such as Harvard University and Columbia University's Starr East Asian Library.[8]
Curator:
2015-Current. “Herstory - The Legal History of Chinese American Women” made its debut on June 19, 2015 at the National History Museum in Taiwan and traveled to 22 other museum and libraries in the U.S. until 2019.[13]“Herstory 2 - The Legal History of Chinese American Women” began its traveling exhibition in March 19, 2022 at the San Francisco Main Library and has scheduled exhibitions through 2026.[14]
Because of her books and exhibitions on the legal history of Chinese American women, Dr. Chen is recognized as the pioneer in the study of the legal history of Chinese American women.
