Charles Monroe "Sparky" Schulz was born November 26, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was largely raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. He created the comic strip Peanuts, which debuted on October 2, 1950. He died on February 12, 2000, at his home in Santa Rosa, California. A museum, the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center, dedicated to his life and legacy opened in Santa Rosa, California, near his longtime studio, in August 2002.
