Charlie Berens
Charlie Berens is an Emmy-winning journalist[1], comedian, and creator of the Manitowoc Minute. [2] He's been featured on Fox, CBS, Funny or Die, TBS Digital, Variety, and MTV News.
Career
Television Journalism
Charlie began his career working for MTV News' Choose or Lose.[3] He covered politics for the state of Wisconsin and was arrested covering protests at the 2008 Republican National Convention.[4] In 2012, Tribune Media tapped Charlie to host the comedic news show Nightcap. [5] Berens won his first Regional Emmy as a reporter for "The Cost of Water" in the Environment - News Swingle Story/Series/Feature category reporting for KDAF-TV.[6]
In 2014 CBS Sports Network hired Charlie to host the sports gameshow 'You’re So Money'. Also in 2014, PMC made Charlie the host of their comedy/entertainment news brand @Hollywood.
Charlie has been featured on Funny or Die.[7] His comedic mashups including “If Jack Dawson Was Really From Wisconsin” have garnered more than 13 million views.[8]
Manitowoc Minute
Charlie created the Manitowoc Minute in 2017 -- a weekly comedic video series that has consistently gone viral, garnering millions of views. [9]
His "Oh My Gosh!" Tour, inspired by the series, sold out theaters across Wisconsin.[10] And Berens recently partnered with Madison brewery Ale Asylum to launch a new beer, inspired by the Manitowoc Minute series. [11]
