Chat2Find
Chat2Find (formally Chat2Find PVT LTD) is a Sri Lankan private technology company founded in 2023 by Avishka Sumanadeera.[1][2] Headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the company develops artificial intelligence-based information retrieval tools and language models, with a particular focus on Sri Lanka's three official languages: Sinhala, Tamil, and English.[2][3] As of mid-2026, Chat2Find is privately held and has not announced any external funding rounds.[2]
History
Chat2Find was established in 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, by technology entrepreneur Avishka Sumanadeera.[4] The company initially focused on developing an AI chatbot capable of combining multiple large language models with real-time web search to answer user queries.[4]
In February 2026, the company upgraded its Cheap2Find price-comparison tool with multilingual AI search capabilities, allowing retail queries to be processed in Sinhala, Tamil, and other languages.[5][6]
In April 2026, Chat2Find published a trilingual AI training corpus of over 255 million tokens on Hugging Face and LankaData, making it available under the open-source MIT License.[7][8] Later that month, the company released Chat2Find-CPT, a 4-billion-parameter base language model trained on the corpus.[9]
In May 2026, the company open-sourced Chat2Find-Instruct-v1, a 7-billion-parameter large language model (LLM) instruction-tuned for Sinhala, Tamil, and English.[3][2] The model weights were published on Hugging Face under the MIT License.[10]
Technology
Chat2Find's language models are based on the Qwen 3.5 architecture, originally developed by Alibaba Cloud.[10] The Chat2Find-Instruct-v1 model is a 7-billion-parameter model trained using continued pre-training (CPT) on a 1.38 GB trilingual corpus of Sri Lankan web and media content, followed by instruction fine-tuning on approximately 279,000 prompt-response pairs using QLoRA 4-bit quantisation.[10][3] The model supports chain-of-thought reasoning and tool-use capabilities, enabling integration with external APIs and web search.[10]
The company's training corpus (the Chat2Find Corpus) comprises approximately 255 million tokens of Sinhala, Tamil, and English text, making it one of the largest publicly available datasets for Sri Lankan languages.[7][8]
Chat2Find's deployed platforms use retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), combining AI text generation with dynamic retrieval from indexed documents or live web searches to provide responses grounded in current information rather than relying solely on static training weights.[4]
