Chemspace is a searchable database for chemical building blocks, which allows searching for specific chemical compounds by drawing structure or providing compounds identifiers, such as CAS number, MFCD number, catalogue number, IUPAC name, InChI key, either as a text entry or by file uploading.[1]

History[edit]

Chemspace was founded by a group of chemical suppliers including Enamine Ltd, ChemBridge Corporation, UORSY and FCH Group on 1 September 2015, and officially presented in a press release on 1 March 2016.[2] In August 2016 the firm was one of the co-organizers of the 18th European Symposium on Fluorine Chemistry in Kyiv, Ukraine.[3][4]

Database[edit]

The database contains information on more than 20 million unique chemical building blocks from a number of chemical suppliers.[5] The Chemspace database currently covers over 80% of all building blocks demanded by agrochemistry and drug discovery. The database is diverse and contains all popular classes of building blocks as well as new ones including sulfinates and stannanes. Chemspace is a tool for researches involved in medicinal chemistry, hit to lead optimization, and organic synthesis projects.[6][7] Recently, a group of scientists has utilized the Chemspace database in their research to estimate the commercial availability of several chemical classes.[8]
