Chen Award is an annually award presented at the Human Genome Organisation (HUGO) Human Genome Meeting to one or more individuals to note research accomplishments in human genetics and genomics in Asia Pacific. Also called the HUGO Award, it was created by Professor Yuan-Tsong Chen and Mrs. Alice Der-Shan Chen, who started the Chen Foundation, and the Human Genome Organisation. Two types of honors are given, the Chen Award for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Human Genetic and Genomic Research which comes with a $10,000 prize, and the Chen Award of Excellence which is given to two winners along with a $5,000 prize. The Chen New Investigator Award was given between 2011 and 2013 and was replaced with the Chen Award of Excellence from 2014. Laureates are given a plaque or medal and are invited to present a lecture at the annual meeting. The review committee is composed of scientists, thought-leaders and/or government officials from any country.[1]
