From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Cheollima Civil Defense (Korean: 천리마민방위) is a North Korean dissident organisation that helps defectors from North Korea.

History[edit]

On 1st October 2017, a representative of the group gave its only known interview to the Wall Street Journal.[1]

On 19th April 2017, the group released a message on its website calling for the candidates of the South Korean presidential election, 2017 to commit to “embrace and defend each and every defector who is looking for shelter”. Lee Duk-haeng, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification in the South, said “There is nothing the ministry has figured out [about CCD]”.[2]

Joshua Stanton has described it as “North Korea’s first organized resistance organization since the 1995 VI Corps mutiny”.[3] After the Assassination of Kim Jong-nam, the group helped his son Kim Han-sol to safety.[4][5]
