Early Life and Education[edit]
Cran graduated Osoyoos Secondary School in 1981.
Career[edit]
Cran began her banking career with BMO from 1981-1991. She worked as an area manager with MICC (now known as GE Capitol) from 1993-1995. She then worked as an area manager with Westminster Credit Union. After interning with Kaizen Consulting, Cran opened her own consulting firm in 1997 and in 1999 was on contract as an instructor for Rockhurst University teaching sales, leadership and communication. Since 1997 Cran built her consulting firm Synthesis at Work and incorporated in 2005 in Vancouver BC. In 2013 Cran incorporated Evolutionary Business Solutions under the parent company Synthesis at Work.
Her first book, “Say What You Mean – Mean What You Say – Surefire Ways to Get What You Want"[1] was published In 2002 by Trafford Publishing and focuses on the art of communication as a leadership skill and as a way to improve relationships at work.
In 2006 Trafford published Cran’s second book, “50 Ways to Lead & Love It!”[2] a book of fifty leadership tips for aspiring and existing leaders to improve their leadership skills.
In 2008 Career Press published Cran’s book “The Control Freak Revolution”[3] the book was based on research Cran had begun in 2005 on how being a control freak could be a ‘positive leadership trait’ and used research on celebrity examples such as Oprah, Ellen and other notable ‘control freak’ success stories.
Cran’s fourth book, “101 Ways to Make Generations X, Y and Zoomers Happy at Work”[4], was published by Friesen Press in 2010. Cran researched over 1000 Generation Y’s and Generation X’s to provide the synopsis of the generation's impact on the workplace. The research and content in this book was the basis for generation’s curriculum that is presented globally by Cran and by licensed trainers.
Cran was inducted into the Canadian Speakers Hall of Fame in 2012
In 2013 Book Baby published Cran’s book “Leadership Mastery in the Digital Age"[5]. The book provides assessments and self-evaluations for leaders to determine where they are on the path to leadership mastery.
The Future of Work Research[edit]
In 2014 Cran surveyed thousands of leaders through audience surveys, SurveyMonkey and through in app surveys with organizations globally. Cran’s research has found that the future of work is going to be markedly different than current workplaces. She has researched processes such as holacracy that are based on a work group decisions. Companies such as GE and Zappos have been using holocracy as a system to engage generation Y’s and Millenials and to retain top talent.
In 2015 Wiley USA published Cran’s book “The Art of Change Leadership – Driving Transformation In a Fast Paced World”[6].
Future of Work Resource[edit]
In 2015 Cran founded Evolutionary Leadership Training to help companies create future of work ready leaders.
Future of Work Philanthropic Project[edit]
In 2015 Cran co-founded the Leadership Skills for Kids project to help kids learn fundamental leadership skills for success in their lives at school and at home. Cran is passionate about providing leadership skills to future leaders which is kids. This project includes creating a gamified app for children and partial proceeds go to global charities such as I Am a Girl and Me to We.
Cran is currently a future of work and change leadership expert. Cran’s research and thought leadership on the Future of Work and Change Leadership have been featured in CNBC, Huffington Post, Metro New York, Readers Digest, Financial Post, Fox, Entrepreneur magazine and more. In addition Cheryl’s reputation as a Future of Work and Leadership Expert has landed her on numerous Top Influencers lists on social media.
In 2017 Cran received certificate for the Exponential Innovation Program by Singularity University.
In 2018 Cran launched NextMapping, the integration of all research, programs and delivery of future of work solutions.

Cran is married with one daughter and two step sons. She lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
