The Chicago Food Truck Fest gathers gourmet food trucks in the south loop[1] of Chicago, IL during the summer. The rally is one of many food truck festivals/rallies across America.[2] The rally started at then U.S. Cellular Field in 2014.[3][4][5] In 2015, U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois made a visit to the Chicago Food Truck Fest to urge Chicago lawmakers to lift restrictions on food trucks to allow them to better prosper.[6] Also, in 2015, WGN sat had an discussion about the food truck scene in Chicago.[7] As while food trucks prosper in other regions across America the Chicago food truck scene stalled in comparison to other major cities. [8] As a recent study found the food truck industry in 2017, generated an estimated $2.7 billion dollars up from $650 million in 2014.[9] Being apart of the food truck industry is easier in some cities across America than others.[10]

In 2015, the Chicago Food Truck Fest or rally made a location change to the South Loop in order to make room for the burgeoning crowds.[11] Chicago Food Truck Fest helps food truck operators by hosting dedicated food truck festivals/ralies.[12] In 2017, Chicago Food Truck Festival began curating a food truck rally at the Park at Wrigley for the then World Champion Chicago Cubs.[13][14] [15] June 2018, the Chicago Food Truck Festival rallied 50 plus food trucks in Chicago.[16] The Guinness World record for a food truck rally is still held by Tampa were 121 food trucks gathered in March 2014.[17] [18] [19][20]

Food Truck Rally

Today food truck rallies or festivals occur across America. Tampa, Florida, which has been a popular area for food trucks and hosted its first food truck event in September 2011,[21] hosted a rally with 121 food trucks in March 2014, said to be a new world record, breaking the prior record of 99 set in Tampa in September 2013.[22][23]
