Chief Ministership of Tirath Singh Rawat

Tirath Singh Rawat assumed office as the 9th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand on March 10,2021[1]. In his Chief Ministership he took the following decisions:

  • In the Cabinet meeting chaired by Rawat he reversed a major decision by the Trivendra Rawat Government by removing 100 party functionaries who held various cabinet and divisional posts in the government.

  • In a major cabinet decision he removed the direct or indirect control of the state government from 51 Temples . This decision was widely welcomed by some spiritual leaders including Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev[4][5][6][6]
  • Chairing another meeting with the cabinet ministers he put the commissionerate status of Gairsain on hold.[7][8][9][10]
  • Further he imposed night curfew in the district of Dehradun and ordered to shut down all the schools in the district of Nainital, Dehradun and Haridwar in view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the state.[11]
  • In a statement at the VHP Summit he assured to take steps to stop Love Jihad in the state quoting that these cases are low in the state as compared to other.[12]
