Chiho Ishida (Japanese: 石田千穂 Hepburn: Ishida Chiho, born March 17, 2002 in Hiroshima Prefecture) is a Japanese singer, represented by Twin Planet. She is a member of the girl group STU48 and leader of the group's Charming Trip subunit.
Biography
Ishida has worked as a model since childhood. In 2012, she was admitted as a 26th generation student of Actor's School Hiroshima. While a student, she became a member of the idol groups peony and MAX♡GIRLS managed by the school.[1][2] That year, she also won the Grand Prix in the Fairies NEXT auditions, organized by Rising Production.[3]
On March 19, 2017, Ishida passed the audition for STU48's first generation. She graduated from ASH on March 20.[4]
In June 2018, Ishida ranked #99 in the AKB48 Senbatsu Sousenkyo, being one of only two STU48 original members to rank in, the other being Yumiko Takino (Nana Okada, who ranked fifth, is concurrently an AKB48 member). In October, she joined the STU48 subunit Charming Trip, which focuses on travel and beauty, and was later appointed its leader following the departure of previous leader Yuri Torobu from the group.[5]
On September 15, 2019, the STU48 management launched an event to commemorate Ishida and Takino's inclusion in the lineup for AKB48's 56th single, "Sustainable": Ishida would start a Twitter account and Takino an Instagram account, and their combined follower count must exceed that of the STU48 Twitter account (87,276 followers on that day) by October 31, or the two accounts would be deleted. The challenge was successfully completed, and other STU48 members were granted their own official Twitter accounts as reward.[6]
In October 2019, Yamaguchi Broadcasting aired the television program STU48 Furusato Senden LABO (STU48 ふるさと宣伝LABO, "STU48 Hometown Promotion LABO"), which featured Ishida and Takino's visit to Indonesia as Setouchi Region tourism ambassadors.[7][8]
On January 24, 2020, Ishida held her first solo concert at Tokyo Dome City Hall.[9] In March, she hosted Hataraku Ishida Chiho, a Hulu Japan variety miniseries about part-time jobs, which ran for four episodes.[10]
On July 7, 2020, Ishida announced that she has signed to Wild Planet, a section for actors and actresses within the agency Twin Planet, with the intention to pursue acting in addition to her current activities.[11]
On October 26, Ishida announced that her photobook would be released on December 2. It would be both the first solo photobook and the first swimsuit photoshoot by an STU48 original member.[12] The book placed fifth in the Oricon photobook sales ranking for the week of its release, with approximately 4,266 copies sold.[13]
On January 15, 2020, it was announced during STU48's concert in Nippon Budokan that Ishida would, for the first time, be the center performer in the title song of their sixth single, "Hitorigoto de Kataru kurai nara" (独り言で語るくらいなら, "If It's Like Speaking in A Monologue").[14] She is also part of the the group's fan-voted Setouchi PR Unit, which would perform the song "Boku wa Kono Umi o Nagameteru" (僕はこの海を眺めてる, "I'm Looking at This Sea").[15][16]
Discography
Ishida has been in the lineup of every STU48 main single. She also performed in the main track of AKB48's 56th single, "Sustainable".
