Development[edit]
Decades before the development of Children of the Corn: Runaway, Dimension Films obtained the rights to the Children of the Corn film series; Dimension's first film was Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice, in 1991. Since then, the company has been required to produce films in the series to retain the rights.[6] In 2011, nearing a later deadline to retain Children of the Corn, Dimension Films fast tracked several direct to dvd sequels.[7]
Filming[edit]
In March 2016, principal photography commenced in Oklahoma.[8] The film was produced by Mike Leahy, with filming being described as "Blood has been flowing here in Oklahoma City. These are two horror films that are going to be seen by a core audience".[5][9][10] In June 2016, filming wrapped, after 3 months of shooting.[11]
Release[edit]
Children of the Corn: Runaway was released by Lionsgate Films and Dimension Films on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital HD on March 13, 2018.[12][13] On January 24, 2018, the trailer was released online.[14][15]
Reception[edit]
The film currently has mixed reviews from major news sources.[16][17][18][19]
