Chill and Binge is a streaming search engine that helps users decide which movies and TV Shows they should be watching on online video platforms (OTT platforms) like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hotstar etc. It was founded by two people in 2020, to solve the “problem of abundance” faced while choosing a movie/TV show to watch. According to a KPMG report[1] [2], the average time spent by Indian subscribers on various OTT platforms is 20-50 minutes but the question is how much time are the users actually spending watching the show. There are currently about 40 providers of over–the–top media services (OTT) in India, which distribute streaming media over the Internet. According to a study done by Netflix [3] a user spends 18 mins in finding a new movie/show to watch.
Chill and Binge is trying to solve this problem by using multiple features like:
Filters to the website like choosing Streaming Platform, Genres, Type (Movie/TV Show), Languages, Release Year Duration, Sorting By IMDb rating or year of release;
Searching Movie or show titles, Cast or director;
Creating Watchlists to club content under "watched" and "want to watch" to get personalized results
As of June 2020, Chill and Binge had 12 streaming platform’s data readily available. These platforms included Amazon Prime, Hotstar VIP, Free and Premium, Netflix, Voot Free and Select, Sony LIV Free and Premium, Zee5 Free and Premium and Hoichoi.
