If a CCC-Certificate is required for an automotive part, the manufacturer is not allowed to sell the part to the Chinese market without a CCC-Certificate and a valid CCC marking permission. The obligation for a CCC-Certificate applies not only for goods that are manufactured in China but also for products produced abroad and exported to China. For this reason, the CCAP conducts CCC Certifications in China and abroad. The CCAP employs a great number professional auditors trained in this field at National institutions. Additionally, a considerable number of test laboratories are attached to the CCAP that are accredited by the CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment). These test laboratories are specialized in the tests for safety and burning of automotive products.

Currently the CCAP is managed by Qiang Yi who has been in office since 2008. His predecessor is Huang Xueping who managed the authority from 2002 until 2008. Under his management, the CCAP has grown to approximately 80 permanently employed engineers and 100 part-time certification inspectors.
