Chinese Tokusatsu
Tokusatsu is a genre of media consisting of films and television created using special and practical effects. During the 'Henshin Boom' of the 70's, the popularity of tokusatsu grew from popular shows including Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Metal Hero, Kikaider along with other series running at that time. With the success of the genre in Japan, other countries would follow suit and create their own shows and films. Some countries would dub and localize series over to their languages, while others would create their own original series be it an equivalent, parody, or original production with varying qualities.
Armor Hero[edit]
The Armor Hero Series (Chinese: 铠甲勇士系列; pinyin: Kǎi Jiǎ Yǒng Shì Xì Liè, lit. "Armor Warrior Series") was a popular Chinese tokusatsu action drama series made and produced by Aofei Entertainment Co., Ltd (whom previously created Balala the Fairies) and Herobox Studio that originally ran from 2008 to 2020.[1] Similar to the Kamen Rider Series, each show contains their own separate stories and continuities within the series, including their own trends and tropes. Its sister series, Battle Strike Team, another Chinese tokusatsu series that is similar to Super Sentai, is set in the same universe as Armor Hero. The series often combines Chinese mythology and traditions in each show utilizing or representing classical Chinese elements (fire, earth, water, metal, and wood for example).[2] The show is typically aimed at a younger audience and has gained traction for widening its audience.[3]
As of now, Armor Hero Hunter is the latest season. It is uncertain if there will be any more shows created at the moment. Despite the latest season having low ratings, however, there was a movie supposedly tied to this season. Currently, there is no release date.
