Jane has been a source of internet shock and curiosity since 2009. Her webcams have been recording her activity for longer, approx. 2006.

Chip-chan, or Jane, is a South Korean hikikomori who gained attention for her webcam stream recording herself sleep for up to 20 hours a day, claiming she has been implanted with a mind control weapon in her ankle in the late 1990's by a 'corrupt' police officer under the name of Park Seong-Dong.

Discovery

Jane was initially discovered in 2009 on a 4chan webcam thread. Initially, she was thought to be dead from appearing unconscious, but it was discovered she was sleeping for very extensive periods, immobile.

Content

Jane's career is streaming her room on several social media platforms and blogging about her conspiracy. She has a defunct webcam on OpenTopia[1], and uploads daily streams on YouTube. She is observed living in a rubbish-filled small apartment, usually never leaving her home, or very rarely, and is extremely lethargic with occasional episodes of hysteric screaming and crying, which can last minutes to hours. She communicates her symptoms through signs and posters written in Korean. Her webcam livestreams have been continuing. Jane claims she cannot leave the apartment due to her sleep control.[2]

Jane stayed unidentified until 2019. Geographical information on her was found, including her addresses before and after a relocation, and a photo of her 'persecutor'. No history or record of her life's deeper past or family relatives are available. Any attempts to contact her town's authorities have been in vain.[3]

Medical speculations

Jane has, since her early fanbase, been speculated to have paranoid schizophrenia. Some symptoms of diagnoses speculated have been irrelevant or hesitant, as narcolepsy is a cyclic pattern and does not induce chronic coma-like lethargy, and it is out of character for a paranoid schizophrenic to not mind being observed, but her webcam is a means of protection to expose potential intruders, majorly the officer who she often refers to as "P", a fear which is a critical element of her conspiracy. This fear has never been confirmed to happen. Speculative differential proposed diagnoses other than narcolepsy and paranoid schizophrenia were catatonic schizophrenia, or a brain tumor. However, she does have the behaviors typical of people claiming to suffer advanced gangstalking. The ambiguity of her condition has mixed criticism. A subreddit was opened to track her activity.

Jane's photos prove she has been developing severe skin problems since circa 2017.

Forensics

Hints from Jane's blogs imply that she is being persecuted for her deceased parents' inheritance. She can manage to provide basic supplies despite her social disability, and it is yet to be confirmed whether she has an inheritance, is on a government pension, or if she is being paid by an external person.
