Existence[2][edit]
Fossils of Chlidonophorinae have been recorded as early as 191-183 MYA in the Early Jurassic. There are only 4 extant species, 2 of which are in Chlidonophora and 2 of which are in Disculina.

Chlidonophorinae has a total of 25 species (out of 58 in the family Chlidonophoridae) in which 4 are extant (16%).
