Cho Su-jin (조수진 Jo Su-jin), also known as Player 005 is a girl who participated in the 33rd Squid Game in 2020.
History
Cho Su-jin was born in either 1988 or 1989 in Busan. After graduating from school, she worked at Mihwa Department Store in an unspecified capacity before eventually being fired due to gambling. She was unable to find work afterward and incurred heavy amounts of debt. As of 2020, she was living with her father.[1]
After being contacted by Squid Game staff, Su-jin decided to join a high-risk competition in order to win large amounts of money. She was picked up, sedated, and transported to the island where the games take place. After waking up in a large room with 455 other people, she signed a consent form and had her photo taken.
Cho Su-jin managed to pass the first game, Red Light, Green Light. During the voting, she voted to stop playing the games along with a narrow majority of the other players and was sent home.[2]
She rejoined the games when they resumed weeks later. During Sugar Honeycombs, she can be seen behind Byeong-gi while deciding which game to choose. She successfully survived that game, as well as the Special Game and Tug of War, where she was part of Team Eight.
Fate
In Marbles, Player 005 was paired up with Player 183. They were both eliminated in that game, presumably as a result of cheating.
Trivia
- Cho Su-jin shares her name with the winner of the 5th Squid Game, Player 187.
- Her name was originally listed as Cho Seung-yeon on the files. However, at one point, for unknown reasons, it was edited to Cho Su-jin.
Mistakes
- Su-jin's player file states that she began attending school in 2005 and graduated in 1982.
- Another 005 in tug of war is seen wearing glasses in Team 8. This 005 is also shown as a male.
- Another 005 caught as being a middle-aged man is shown at Red Light, Green Light. The actor of the mistake supposedly was 005, but the reason is he had player 131's jacket.
- Another 005 that was seen in Red Light, Green Light when snipers were trying to shoot the players that didn't finish the first game.
- When we see her corpse, it’s a male. These appearances are most likely due to a mistake on the director's part.
- On her player file, it states that her father was born on December 16, 1900, which would be impossible since it would outrun the average Korean male life expectancy.
