Overview[edit]

Choice Coin[1] is Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) and open source software on the Algorand blockchain.[2] The Choice asset was launched to the Algorand MainNet on August 9, 2021.[3] With over 11,000 users as of November 2021, Choice Coin is the largest open source project on the Algorand network.[4][5]

Algorand Blockchain[edit]

Algorand is a proof-of-stake blockchain, which improves security and power efficiency of blockchain networks. In fact, Algorand is the most technically advanced and sophisticated blockchain technology.[6] The Algorand blockchain utilizes advanced post-quantum cryptographic mechanisms and zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs). The Algorand network also includes a democratic consensus mechanism for voting, using a new Byzantine Agreement protocol. Algorand was founded by long time MIT Professor, Silvo Micali.

Software[edit]

The Choice Coin software stack is dedicated to developing open source governance software using blockchain technology. In 2021, Choice Coin grew to become the largest open source project on Algorand.[7] Development on the Choice Coin software is a global initiative with developers from around the world contributing to the core code.[8] The main programming language for Choice Coin on GitHub is Python.

Choice[edit]

Choice is an Algorand Standard Asset (ASA) used to solve the decentralized governance problem, referring to the complex process by which assets are allocated across decentralized networks.[9] Choice was created to facilitated voting using new blockchain software. The software's purpose is allow for open and secure votes to happen on the Algorand blockchain.
