Choice Poker is a Poker variant that first became popular in 2017 that first was shown in the anime Kakegurui.[1] It has since become a well known variant for home games, and a handful of Japanese casinos.
Rules
The basic rules for Choice Poker is this:[2]
- Each player is dealt 5 cards and allowed to exchange (face-up) any number of cards once.
- The hand rankings are the same: five of a kind is the strongest hand and high card is the weakest.
- A joker is incorporated and if drawn, automatically makes the strongest hand ranking possible.
- Players may only bet or raise, and cannot fold or call.
- Whoever bets the most money during a round can choose higher or lower, if higher is chosen, it plays like normal Poker. If lower is chosen, the player with the worst hand wins.
- A 53 card deck must be used, with one Joker.
