Featuring verses by American record producer Timbaland and American hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia, the song was written and produced by Timberlake, Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley, and Nate "Danja" Hills, with additional writing from Three 6 Mafia members Juicy J and DJ Paul.

"Chop Me Up" was written by Timberlake, Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley, Nate "Danja" Hills, Jordan Houston, and Paul Beauregard.[1] The song was produced by Timbaland, Timberlake and Hills.[1] Timbaland and Hills provided keys and drums for the song.[1] The song was recorded by Jimmy Douglass at Thomas Crown Studios in Virginia Beach, Virginia.[1] The song was mixed by Douglass and Timbaland at Thomas Crown Studios.[1]

Composition

Adelle Platon of Billboard described the song as a "hard-hitting, chopped and screwed cut" from FutureSex/LoveSounds.[2]

Live performances

Timberlake performed the song as part of his FutureSex/LoveShow tour in 2007.[3]
