Chowkidekhi

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Chowkidekhi (Bengali: চৌকিদেখি) is a neighbourhood in Sylhet, Bangladesh. Situated next to a tea garden, Chowkidekhi has two mosques and one madrasa. There is a cemetery named after Syed Nasir Uddin Shah which contains his mazar (mausoleum). There are local legends that when he died, his body was laid on a wooden bed (locally called chowkidekhi). When people turned around, his body just vanished. That's where the name "Chowkidekhi" came from meaning vanished from sight. The neighbourhood is about 3 miles south of Sylhet Osmani International Airport.Coordinates: 24°54′54″N 91°52′55″E / 24.915°N 91.882°E / 24.915; 91.882
