Chris Do (b.1972) is a designer, educator, social media personality, director and Emmy award winner. Do is the founder and CEO of The Futur, a design and education company that offers courses and resources for creatives.[1][2]
Early life and education[edit]
Do was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1972.[1]
His father served in the military of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. With the Fall of Saigon on April 30th 1975, the family fled the country and settled in the United States. As part of a Catholic church programme to help Vietnamese refugees acclimate to the United States, they landed in Kansas City, Missouri, where their host and sponsor family was located. Two years later, they moved to San Jose, California to join the rest of their extended family.[1] His father eventually became the chief engineer at a semiconductor company in Silicon Valley.[2]
Chris Do lived in San Jose until he went to college. He graduated from ArtCenter College of Design in 1995.[2]
Career[edit]
Shortly after graduating from ArtCenter College of Design in 1995, Do started his own company, the motion design studio Blind Inc. Here he worked with brands and companies such as Activision, Google, Microsoft, Sony, Audi, Showtime, Nike, Wells Fargo, SnapChat, RIOT Games, and Facebook.[2]
In 2010, Chris Do won an Emmy Award for «Outstanding Individual Achievement In Animation» for his animated music-video companion to The Raveonettes song «Heart of Stone.»[3][4]
In 2014, Do started a new business venture, originally named The Skool, with his business partner Jose Caballer. After its dissolution in 2016, he formed The Futur, a new company and educational platform for creative entrepreneurs. Through The Futur, Do has created a community of more than 500,000 creative professionals from around the world to share their experiences, insights, and advice. Due to The Futur, its podcasts and YouTube-Channel, Chris Do has been widely recognised for his expertise in branding, design strategy, and design thinking. He has also given talks and presentations on these topics at events around the world.[2]

Do is married. He has an older and a younger brother, making him the middle child.[1]
