Christopher Thomas Dorsey is an American television and film producer, journalist, and conservation advocate. He is the founding partner of Denver-based Dorsey Pictures (previously Orion Entertainment),[1][2] a Global 100 factual production company[3], and Mission Partners Entertainment Group. Dorsey Pictures has produced more than 120 television series across multiple networks, including Discovery Channel, History Channel, Travel Channel, Destination America, Velocity TV, HGTV, DIY Network, Magnolia, Fox Nation, and National Geographic. Dorsey Pictures has been recognized by Realscreen in their Global 100 list for four consecutive years, nominated for the company's prominence in unscripted and non-fiction screen content.[4][5] His work spans television production, journalism,[6] and conservation-focused media.[7][8]

Early Life

Christopher Dorsey was born in Madison, Wisconsin. Dorsey graduated from DeForest Area High School, where he was inducted into the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame[9][10]. He later attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP)[11] and earned degrees in English and Natural Resource Management. While at UWSP, he served as editor of the student newspaper, The Pointer. [12]

Filmography

Dorsey has worked as an executive producer and host on numerous television series[13], particularly those focused on lifestyle[14], outdoor,[15] and adventure topics.[16] The program Tiny House, Big Living gained traction with those interested in owning a home on a budget.[17][not in citation given] More than 170 million Americans annually tune into Dorsey’s lifestyle programming.[14] His productions include:

Natural history films

Dorsey has also been involved in the production of giant screen and IMAX films that focus on conservation themes. His 2022 film Wings Over Water, narrated by Michael Keaton, highlighted the ecological importance of North America’s prairie wetlands.[34] [35]

Through his Mission Partners Entertainment Group, Dorsey has worked on creating films and curricula that raise awareness about endangered ecosystems,[36] such as the Great Salt Lake and the Gulf Coast. Secrets of Great Salt Lake with Mike Rowe will be released in 2025[37] and Upstream: The Journey Home will be released in 2026.

Chris Dorsey is married to Amy Dorsey, and they have twin sons. The family splits their time between homes in Colorado, and South Carolina.
