Life[edit]

Jansen was born in Wageningen, Gelderland, Holland. He worked in his father's bakery before becoming a blacksmith and studying commercial art and engineering. Jansen was a hobbyist photographer until he travelled to South Africa in 1952. South Africa's open spaces, nature, and culture inspired Jansen to professionally peruse photography. He stayed in Johannesburg for five years before settling down in South Africa's legislative capital, Cape Town.

In 1965, Jansen became the father to a son before fathering a daughter in 1971.

During the 1990s, Jansen purchased a plot of land in the Karoo. He dubbed this piece of land, "Pixieland", and he lived in Pixieland up until the early 2000's when he moved to the Riversdal countryside.

The ability to take photographs became more difficult as Jansen grew older, so he filled up his time with other things. He started an independent honey farm during the 2000s, and made some extra money buy refurbishing old antiques.

On the 2nd of September, 2010, Jansen passed away in the company of a friend by his Riversdal home. He was buried in Pixieland by his son and daughter.
