Coaching career

Early years

Strausser began his coaching career coaching wide receivers and tight ends at Menlo College in 1989. Strausser joined the Division-I coaching ranks as a graduate assistant at Oregon State University from 1990-91 before taking a position at Sonoma State University in 1992 coaching offensive tackles, tight ends and special teams. Strausser spent two seasons each at San Jose State University (1995-96) and Portland State (1993-94), working as offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator for both schools. He served as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Portland State University in 2000 after three years as offensive coordinator for Foothill College from 1997-99.

Boise State

Strausser began coaching for Boise State University in 2001 as the offensive line coach. He coached the offensive line from 2001-05 before spending one season as assistant head coach/offensive line at the University of Colorado. Strausser returned to Boise State in 2007 under coach Chris Petersen. He served as offensive line coach and run game coordinator for Boise State from 2010-13, adding the responsibilities as associate head coach in 2013. During that time, Boise State surrendered just 36 sacks (0.69 per game) to rank second in the nation during that four-year period.[1] Strausser also coached Broncos center Matt Paradis in 2012 and 2013.

Washington

Strausser followed head coach Chris Petersen to the University of Washington in 2014. During his three years as associate head coach/offensive line coach, three of Strausser’s offensive linemen were named first-or second-team all-league selections.[2]

Professional career

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos hired Strausser on February 22, 2017 as assistant offensive line coach to Jeff Davidson.[3] After Davidson's departure at the end of the 2017 season, Strausser was announced as Broncos' offensive line-tackles coach with Sean Kugler coaching the guards/centers.[4]

Personal

Strausser graduated from Chico State University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. He went on to earn his master’s in education from Oregon State in 1991.[5]
