Christian Bosque Alicea (born March 15, 1996, in Lares, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and musician celebrated for modernizing salsa and tropical genres with contemporary flair. He blends traditional rhythms like salsa, merengue, bachata, and cumbia with fresh urban and pop influences.
Early Life and Background
Son of Vicky Alicea & José Bosque, the latter is respected percussionist and leader of the band Maiken, Christian has been influenced by his whole family. His 2 older siblings, Josue & Xavier, also sing and perform for the family band, with his oldest brother Josue, being a part of the group performed, Zone D' Tambora, which was formed by merengue legend Elvis Crespo[1] [2]. Christian began learning percussion at age 10; made his vocal debut at 14 performing at a wedding with his father's band, singing a rendition of the Prince Royce song, "Darte Un Beso". Balancing music, with playing with various groups as a percussionist, playing volleyball and studies, Christian also became a certified firefighter before.[3][4]
Musical career
After years of being a traveling musician, playing percussion and singing with various local & international bands in Puerto Rico, Christian in 2018 decided to start a his professional solo act career. He connected with family friend and ex-band member of family band, Maiken, and accomplished musical producer Eliot Feliciano, as known as Eliot El Mago D Oz, who had worked with artists such as Dj Nelson, J Alvarez, Olga Tañon, Bad Bunny & Nejo. While working out of Medellin, Colombia, Eliot invited Christian to go work with him there. From the music they were doing came a deal with Colombian record label Codiscos in 2019.[5]
In 2021, Chrisitan aligned himself with Eliot Feliciano, Carlos Palacios, Joshua Ramirez, Jay Dary Castillo & Urales Vargas, to embark on a new journey in his musical career which was going tropical, focusing on Salsa music. On February 17, 2022 Christian released his first salsa song, the Frankie J written, "Cobarde". Within his talent and music, Christian was getting recognized as one of the new leading voices of the genre of Salsa.[6]
Within the first 10 months 2023 saw Christian sign an exclusive booking agreement with powerhouse agency, Loud and Live[7], and in 2025 he did a joint venture agreement with Rimas Entertainment[8] & publishing administration agreement with Peer Music. [9]
In 2025 as an invited guest to the 50th anniversary tour of Tito Nieves, Christian has had the honor to perform at New York’s Madison Square Garden, José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum (Choliseo) in Puerto Rico, the Gran Teatro Nacional del Perú in Peru & Teatro Gran Rex in Argentina.[10]
Alicea is renowned for his fusion of tropical genres (salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, bomba, plena) with modern urban and electronic influences such as pop, r & b, afrobeat, Dancehall, and reggaetón. He emphasizes authentic salsa roots while appealing to new audiences with innovative sounds. His charismatic stage presence and cultural resonance underscore his role as a leading figure in salsa’s new wave.

Yo (2023)[11] [12] [13]
Debut studio album featuring singles like "Cobarde", "Vuelve", "Aroma", "Se Le Nota" and "Cobarde Remix". The album has collaborations with J Alvarez, Rafa Pabön, Maffio, Tonny Tun Tun, Nacho, DJ Nelson, Dj Buddha & Eliot El Mago D Oz. He started gaining widespread acclaim with singles like "Cobarde" and "Vuelve", which charted in the U.S. Billboard Tropical Airplay list and topped charts in the Dominican Republic and Colombia.[14] The album was nominated for Best Tropical Album at Premios Juventud. Yo Deluxe (2024)[16][17]
With the success from his debut album it was followed by a deluxe edition in 2024, Yo Deluxe. The album included the singles, "El Swing 2.0" with fellow salsa newcomers, Luis Figueroa, Moa Rivera & Luis Vazquez[18] [19], "Es Un Secreto" with Dj Buddha, which was in the top 15 tropical songs of the year on Mediabase. The album also featured songs with dancehall legend Red Rat on "Me Quieres 2.0", Químico Ultra Mega & Darkiel on "Bendicion", "Cobarde (Acoustic Version)" with Frankie J, "Voy a Beber" with Eliot El Mago D Oz and "Me Enteré" which went viral on TikTok and was in Spotify’s Viral 50 in Spain.
Voy a Beber also had a Dancehall remix which featured the legend Beenie Man & Tony "CD' Kelly.
The album earned him a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Salsa Album at 2024 Latin Grammy, during the show, Christian also shared the stage with Marc Anthony, Tito Nieves, Grupo Niche, La India, Oscar D’León, Sergio George & Luis Figueroa to pay tribute to the salsa genre.[20]
The album also had nominations for Tropical Album of the Year at Premio Lo Nuestro & Best Tropical Album at Premios Juventud while having recognition by Billboard as an artist to watch.
Swingkete Vol. 1 – Maratón (2025)[21]
On June 26 of 2025, Christian released his 3rd studio album under a partnership with Therapist Music and Rimas Entertainment.[22]
A musical tribute to his cultural roots spanning from salsa, bachata, merengue, cumbia, bomba, plena and afrobeat, Christian highlights his ability to innovate within the genre while staying true to its roots. The album features collaborations with Jowell & Randy, J Alvarez, Frabian Eli, Eliot El Mago D Oz, and DJ Buddha.[23]
Within a month, the album was praised by Billboard, which ranked it #9 on its list of the 25 Best Latin Albums of 2025 (so far)[24]. It also received acclaim from Rolling Stone[25], and Remezcla named him one of the top rising Puerto Rican artists to watch during Bad Bunny’s San Juan residency.[26]
The first single "Hello, What's Up"[27] reached the top ten on the Billboard Tropical Airplay Chart[28]. Follow-up singles were "Me Lo Gozo" [29] and "Carrusel".
