Christian Ilcus is a political scientist and an author. He is a scion of an old and leading Danish-Romanian families.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Christian Dan Ilcus was born on 17 November 1969 at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. His father is Dr. Dan Serban Ilcus and his mother is Inge Martens. His godfather is Axel Martens and his godmother Sys Czartoryski.

He went to school at Henriette Hørlücks Skole and Højmeskolen and attended Sorø Akademis Skole ( High School) . He recieved a bachelor degree in political science from Department of political science Aarhus University on an essay on the Danish Courts and Ministry of Justice before graduating with an MA in European political-administrative studies from College of Europe, Bruges on a thesis topic on French, English and German attitudes to the resort to armed force. He obtained a Master of Science in political science in 2000 from Aarhus University. His thesis topic: EU’s policies towards the Mediterranean and Turkey. He majored with A+ . his advisory committee was constituted by professors Knud-Erik Jørgensen & Uffe Østergaard.

He attended ground school with Lars Melvang, Michael Jalving and Sofie Sehestedt Juul ( Hørlücks skole). He is a study mate of Crown Prince Frederik, Bjørn Lomborg, Nicolai Wammen, Anders Berg-Sørensen, Tina Nedergaard, Nikolaj Bøgh, Vygaudas Usackas and Artis Prabriks (Århus). In Bruges, he attended class with Alexander Stubb, a rival and with Valerie Plame, Gülsun Erkul (b. Yasa) and Valeria Biagiotti.

Career[edit]

In Odense, Christian Ilcus founded Odense-Elevernes Demokratiske Fraktion (OEDF) in 1983 in order to subvert the youth communist leagues’ grib on the Danish student union movement.

In Sorø, Christian Ilcus founded Miracules, a student union and was briefly chairman of the Liberal Youth Organisation (Venstres Ungdom). He was student member of the national commission on latin in the Danish High School, representing GLO. He played a role in the drafting of two complaints to the Minister of Education, Mr. Bertel Haarder. In Sorø, he frequented the home of Sonja and Henrik Rothe.

He trained at the Royal Danish Embassy in Tel Aviv in 1994 under ambassador Rytter. In Tel Aviv, he met up with Dr. Ron Pundak. He also read a letter from Yizhak Rabin to Jacques Delors on the European nations’ support for Palestinean institutions. Ilce trained in the European Commission DG Relex, Romania Desk, where he prepared an experts report on Border Mana-gement towards a programme to the value of €40m. He trained under Günter Burghardt, Francois Lammoureux & Catherine Day, who he liked. He stayed on in Brussels and researched his thesis for the Master of Science in political science, a diplomatic case-study.

He trained as a research student at the European Univresity Institute (EUI) in 2001-2002 under professors Verdier, Schmitter and Amato.

After an incident involving the Danish Security and Intel Services, who manipulated a teacher-pupil relationship in a quest to prove guilt in a matter of security of official documents in conjunction with Ilce’s appilication for a post in the Royal Danish Foreign Ministry, Ilce lost a decade with problems of mental health. He was innocent in the charge, and the document is not classified. He now works in a production company.

Ilce is editing an E-book on European Energy policy and is the author of an art book on the European painting: The Art of Seeing. An Introduction to European pictorial art published at Book on Demand (BOD). In the art book, he notable solved the riddle of Giacomo Bellini’s Sacra Allegoria and Velazquez’ Las Meninas. He published on diplomacy in antiquity and the reform agenda of [[Iran]].

Personal Life[edit]

Christian Ilcus is unmarried.

His maternal Grandparents: CEO Hans Ejler Martens and Gertrud Martens (b. Berg). His paternal grandparents: Dr. Emmanuel Ilcus and Julia Ilcus ( b. Truia). Christian Ilcus has two brothers, Stefan Ilcus a diplomat and Nicolai Ilcus, a kayaking instructor. He is family with Gunnar Martens, the painter Iris Martens and Jens Jakob Wolf Martens and is related to Camilla Lindemann, Anders Lindemann & Signe Bøgelund-Jensen and to Professor Niels Thygesen. His paternal uncle Ioan Ilcus was a Romanian General and Minister of War in 1939-40, whilst Peter Ilcus, another great-uncle was Romanian cultural attaché in Berlin. He is in family with Adrian Despot. He is related to Octavian Goga and the writer Emil Cioran , and Gaius Pria, the former city architect of Caracas, all trailing from the Transylvanian village Rasinari.
