Christian Lo Russo is a singer, musician, songwriter, and artist developer from Sydney, Australia. He was the lead singer, keyboardist, and co-songwriter for Australian Pop band Amy Meredith.[1][1] As a songwriter, Lo Russo has worked with writers including Sam Hollander, John Feldmann, and Rich Costey.[2] He has also worked with artists such as Jessica Mauboy, Delta Goodrem, Good Charlotte,[3] and 5 Seconds of Summer.[2]
Music career
2006–2013: Amy Meredith
Christian Lo Russo co-founded Australian Pop band Amy Meredith in 2008. He was the lead singer, keyboardist, and wrote or co-wrote their music.[3] In 2010 Amy Meredith released their top ten hit Lying, which was penned by Lo Russo, bandmate Joel Chapman, and producer Robert Conley.[4] It reached platinum status in the ARIA Singles Chart.[5] Lo Russo wrote or co-wrote all the songs on the band's debut album Restless, which was released in July 2010 and debuted at number 8 on the ARIA Album Chart[6]
2006–present: songwriting
Lo Russo has written songs for other artists, most notably 5 Seconds of Summer, for whom he co-wrote Unpredictable and Beside You from their debut EP Somewhere New. Beside You also appeared on the band's self-titled debut album. Lo Russo has also written for Brian McFadden, Taylor Henderson, and Dami Im.[2] Lo Russo co-wrote Her by Ivy Levan, and Messed Up Weekend, which appeared on the debut EP She's Rock n Roll by boy band In Stereo.[7] Christian Lo Russo has also co-written with renowned songwriters such as Sam Hollander, John Feldmann, and Rich Costey.[2]
The Artist Studio
In July 2015, Lo Russo co-founded The Artist Studio, in Randwick, Australia.[3] The Artist Studio is a hub for the development of young artists, offering mentoring, recording, music lessons, and voice coaching.[8] Lo Russo also manages artist MAY-A, who was the Triple J featured artist in June 2020[9] MAY-A has also amassed a significant following on her YouTube channel.[10] The Artist Studio is also a member of the APRA AMCOS industry program 50 Songs In 5 Days,[11] which is a collaborative songwriting event held annually in Sydney, and has involved artists such as 5 Seconds of Summer, Kate Miller-Heidke, Montaigne, Jessica Mauboy, and many others.[12]
