Christian Sailer (born July 10, 2000) is an American competition shooter and firearms instructor who started competing in 2014. Sailer is a two-time United States Practical Shooting (USPSA) Open National Champion, placing first in the 2019 USPSA Open National Championship[1] and 2020 USPSA Open National Championship.[2] He was the second person in USPSA history alongside Max Michel to win all 8 USPSA Area Championships in one year.[3] Sailer is the first person in USPSA history to win all 8 USPSA Area Championships and the USPSA National Championship in the same year.[4] He has also won 13 USPSA Area Championships.[5] Sailer has been selected to represent the United States at the 2021 IPSC World Championship in Thailand.[6]
Biography
Sailer was born and raised in Bellevue, Washington.[citation needed] As of 2020, Sailer is a student who resides on the campus at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he is pursuing a degree in Finance.[7] He first fired a gun at age 13, after attending a gun safety course. He then went shooting as much as he could, and his passion for shooting began to grow.[8] By 2014, Sailer was competing in the Production division. In 2016, he competed in his first area match, placing 3rd at the 2016 USPSA Area 1 Championship. By the end of 2017, Sailer was competing in the open division. That year, he placed 7th in Open at the 2017 USPSA Area 1 Championship. His breakout year was in 2018 in which he won two state matches, two area matches, and placed 3rd at the 2018 USPSA Open Nationals.[9] In 2019, Sailer won all 8 area matches and the National Title. In 2020, he won his 2nd consecutive National Title. Sailer is currently still pursuing his degree and shooting and teaching across the country. [10]
