Christine Nolfi
Christine Anna Nolfi (born January 28, 1959) is an American-born author. She is known for her heartwarming and inspiring fiction that often takes place in small town America.
Personal Life
Born into a large family in Cleveland, Ohio, Christine Nolfi is one of six children born to Mario Anthony and Marguerite Lou Nolfi (nee Bacon). As a young child, she attended school at St. Margaret Mary in Cleveland Heights. It was as a young child that Nolfi became interested in books and storytelling[1][2]. In 1970, the Nolfi family moved to Highland Heights, Ohio and Christine began attending Mayfield Middle School and eventually, Mayfield High School. It was during that time she set the goal of becoming a published author[3]. After graduating early from high school, she attended Kent State University where she honed her craft as an author and completed her first novel at the age of 19. In her early 20's, Nolfi was published for the first time, having a short story published in Working Mother Magazine[4]. It was her time growing up in Northeast Ohio that offered fuel for her successful books that would follow later in her life.
In the mid-1990's Nolfi and her former husband adopted four children from the Philippines; Christian, Jameson, Marguerite, and Marlie[5]. The children were a sibling group abandoned in the jungle near the city of Cebu in the Philippines. They were clinging to life when a group of missionaries found them. Two weeks after their rescue, Nolfi and her husband were contacted by their adoption agency about the sibling group and immediately they began the process of adoption[6].
She currently resides in Charleston, South Carolina with her husband Barry Rapoport.
Career
After attending Kent State University, Nolfi began writing a novel in her spare time while she started her career in public relations work. In the mid-1990's she owned a small public relations firm in Cleveland, Ohio and her articles and press releases appeared regionally in The Plain Dealer, The Akron Beacon Journal, and Cleveland Magazine.[7][8] It was during that time she became accustomed to long hours of writing and established relationships with other indie authors[9]. Nolfi credits her managing a PR firm for teaching her the discipline of meeting deadlines—something required of authors[10].
In 2004, Nolfi began writing as a full-time independent author crafting uplifting stories about family, friendship, and the power of hope and second chances. When asked about where she drew her inspiration for her books, Nolfi stated, "I’m fascinated by the extraordinary moments in seemingly ordinary lives. The uncelebrated heroism, the moments of absolute grace, and the life-altering tragedies that force people to reassess, regroup—and which also give them the opportunity to rise above sorrow to lead a richer, more authentic life[11]. Her early works were solidly women's fiction but in 2017, when she began publishing with Lake Union Publishing, Amazon's contemporary and historical fiction imprint[12], she began to move towards upmarket literature[13].
