Christopher G. Benavides is an American-Brazilian management consultant, software developer, and author. He works in workforce management and payroll technology, leading enterprise system implementations for retail and manufacturing companies, and is a principal in the workforce management technology practice of Accenture.[1] He is the developer of Time & Motion Study, a mobile application for time and motion studies, and the author of Time & Motion Study: From Stopwatch to Smartphone (2026), an industrial engineering guide to work measurement and labor standards.[2][3]
Education
Benavides holds dual citizenship of the United States and Brazil and speaks English, Spanish, and Portuguese.[1] He received a Bachelor of Science in international affairs and urban/regional development from Florida State University in 2015, a Master of Business Administration from the Asia School of Business, established in collaboration with the MIT Sloan School of Management, in 2018, and a Master of Advanced Management from the Yale School of Management in 2024.[1] In 2017 he completed a certificate in model-based systems engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and participated in the first Summer School on Cognitive Robotics at MIT CSAIL.[1]
Career
During his MBA, Benavides worked on operations consulting projects in Southeast Asia, including engagements with Aerospace Composites Malaysia (a Boeing–Hexcel joint venture), Esquel Group, Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices, Motorola Solutions, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.[1]
From 2018 to 2019 he was an operational excellence manager for Walmart eCommerce's U.S. fulfillment network, and from 2019 to 2021 he held operations and process engineering roles at Target Corporation.[1] In 2021 he worked at the fulfillment startup Deliverr (later acquired by Shopify), and from 2021 to 2022 he was a senior manager of store operations and industrial engineering at Ross Stores.[1]
From 2022 to 2024, Benavides held senior program- and product-management roles in the technology division of Macy's, Inc., where he led the company's migration to UKG Pro Workforce Management.[1] He joined Accenture in 2024, where he leads workforce management and payroll technology programs for clients in North America and Latin America.[1]
Software
Benavides began publishing productivity software independently in 2017; his Time & Motion Study app later grew out of spreadsheet tools he wrote for warehouse time studies at Walmart.[1] His applications include Time & Motion Study, an industrial engineering app for work measurement with real-time statistical analysis, published for iOS and Android;[2][4] Timer Machine, an interval-timing app;[1] and Montage, a marketplace connecting travelers with accredited tour guides in Rio de Janeiro.[5] He also published Domain Content Validator, a Google Chrome browser extension.[6] According to Benavides, the apps have reached more than one million cumulative users.[1]
Publications
Benavides's first book, Time & Motion Study: From Stopwatch to Smartphone: An Industrial Engineering Guide to Work Measurement, Labor Standards, and Operational Excellence in Retail and Manufacturing, was published in 2026 in paperback, hardcover, and Kindle formats, with localized editions in Latin American and European Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, and Italian.[3][7][8]
