Christopher McDonald was born into a military family, and lived in many countries, including Japan, Korea, Germany, and multiple locations across the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston.[4]

McDonald commenced his career at CNN, where he contributed to the global news program "The World Today with Jim Moret."
