Christopher Paulus Nicolas T. Po (born November 19, 1970), also known as Chris Po, is a Filipino businessman. He is the Executive Chairman of Century Pacific Food (PSE: CNPF), a Philippine-based food and beverage company that is active in the Philippines, China, U.S., Europe, Japan, and the Middle East.[1] He is also the Chairman of Shakey's Pizza Ventures Inc. [2] He currently sits on the Board and is a member of the Executive Committee of Arthaland Corporation (PSE: ALCO), a developer of sustainable real estate projects.[3]

Personal life and education[edit]

Po is the third son of Ricardo S. Po, Sr., the founder and Chairman Emeritus of Century Pacific Food, Inc. He has three brothers, Ricardo Jr., Teodoro, and Leonardo, all of whom are involved in the family businesses.[4]

In 1991, Po graduated from Wharton School and College of Engineering of the University of Pennsylvania, Summa Cum laude, with dual degrees in Economics (Finance Concentration) and Applied Science (Systems Engineering). He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.[5]

He married actress Nanette Medved in South Africa in 1999. The couple have two sons.[6]

Career[edit]

Po joined the family business in 2007 as President and CEO of Century Pacific Group, Inc. (CPGI). In 2014, he took Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CNPF) public as its Chairman, President, and CEO. During his term as CEO and/or Chairman, the company diversified from its historical business of marine and meat and grew its dairy business, entered the coconut industry, and grew the international presence of the company's brands. In 2018, he became the Executive Chairman of the company.[7][8][9]

Since 2016, Po has served as the Chairman of Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (PSE: PIZZA), where he led the acquisition and eventual IPO together with Arran Investments Pte. Ltd., an affiliate of GIC, the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore. [10] He has also been a Director of ArthaLand Corp (PSE: ALCO) since 2011. [3]

Prior to these, from 2002 to 2006, he was the Managing Director for Guggenheim Partners, a US financial services firm, where he was in charge of the firm’s Hong Kong office. In 2000, he worked as the Head of Strategic Planning and Business Development at JG Summit Holdings, a Philippine-based conglomerate. Previously, he was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company working with companies in the Asian region, focused on corporate finance, financial strategy, and mergers and acquisitions. [5]

Civic involvement[edit]

Po is a member of the Board of Trustees of Asia Society Philippines,[11] a member of the National Advisory Council of WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Philippines and is the President of the CPG-RSPo Foundation. [12] He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Ateneo de Manila University.[13]

From 2013 to 2019, he served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the WWF Philippines. He was an Advisory Board member of Bantay Bata Children’s Village, a shelter for abused children, from 2005 to 2007. [5]

Awards[edit]

During Po's term as CEO and Chairman, Century Pacific Food, Inc. (PSE:CNPF) completed its initial public offering in 2014, which was awarded as the Best Deal in the Philippines by Asset Publishing & Research Ltd.[14]

CNPF was also recognized as Best Managed Small Cap Company in the Philippines in 2016 by Asia Money and Philippines’ Best Mid Cap Company in 2017-18 by Finance Asia.[15][16] The Company also won the Family Business Award at the 2018 ASEAN Business Awards, an annual recognition for outstanding ASEAN enterprises.[17]
