Christopher Whitbread
Christopher Laurence Whitbread (born December 1964) is a British conservative politician.[1]
Life and career
Whitbread was born in Epping. He was elected to the Essex County Council in 2017.[2] He currently serves on the Cabinet, as Member for Finance, Resources and Corporate Affairs for the county council.[3] Since 2012, he has been the Leader of Epping Forest District Council.[4]
During the 2025 British anti-immigration protests, he was outspoken against the use of hotels for asylum seekers.[5][6][7]
During the 2026 local elections, Whitbread polled 1,716 votes (32%) behind Reform UK candidate Karen McIvor, who took 2,684 votes (50%).[8]
Personal life
Whitbread's daughter Holly Whitbread is a conservative councillor.[9]
