Chuck Patterson (athlete)
Chuck Patterson (born March 15, 1969) is an American action sports athlete and stuntman known for big‑wave surfing, skiing, snowboarding, stand‑up paddleboarding, kiteboarding, windsurfing, foil surfing, and speed flying. He has been a full‑time sponsored athlete for more than 30 years and has been associated with brands such as GoPro and Red Bull and various outdoor and lifestyle companies. [1]
Early life
Patterson was born in San Francisco, California on March 15, 1969 and began skiing when he was about two and a half years old. His mother was a professional skier in Europe, and he was raised with a strong focus on mountain and snow sports. Growing up, he developed skills across multiple disciplines, eventually combining Alpine sports with ocean‑based activities.[2]
Career
Patterson is often described as a “jack‑of‑all‑trades waterman” who competes and performs in big‑mountain and big‑wave environments. Over his career he has worked as a professional freeride skier, big‑wave surfer, stand‑up paddle athlete, kiteboarder, and foil surfer. He has also done stunt work for film and commercial productions, drawing on his experience in extreme conditions. [3]
