Cimarron Hills is a 1,000-acre master-planned residential and country club community located in western Georgetown, Texas.[1] Established in 2002, the neighborhood is situated along Highway 29 near the South Fork San Gabriel River. It is integrated into the Texas Hill Country landscape and is located approximately five miles west of the historic town square.[2]

Geography

The neighborhood is characterized by rolling elevation changes and limestone outcroppings typical of the Edwards Plateau. The layout preserves much of the native vegetation, including mature live oak trees and seasonal wildflowers.[3] It is bordered to the north by the South Fork of the San Gabriel River, which influences the local topography and drainage.

Infrastructure and Amenities

The neighborhood is centered around the Cimarron Hills Golf & Country Club, a private facility. The centerpiece is an 18-hole signature golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, which officially opened on April 16, 2003.[4]

Additional amenities include:

  • Clubhouse: A 45,000-square-foot facility designed with Tuscan-inspired architecture, housing dining, a spa, and social spaces.[5]
  • Athletics: Facilities for tennis, pickleball, and swimming.
  • Housing: The community features several residential enclaves, including The Villas, The Enclave, and The Estates. Architectural styles primarily consist of Mediterranean, Tuscan, and modern Hill Country.
  • Public Access: While the golf course is private, the primary thoroughfares and the wastewater infrastructure are maintained through local municipal agreements. The extensive nature trails network is accessible to the public. All roads within the development are public roads maintained by the city or county.[6]

Trail System

Cimarron Hills features an extensive network of hike-and-bike trails integrated into the neighborhood’s greenbelts. The internal trails are designed to connect with the broader Georgetown trail infrastructure, specifically the San Gabriel River trail system, providing pedestrian access to nearby regional parks.[7] The trails consist of both paved paths and natural surface tracks.

Education

The development is served by two school districts:
