Cindy Samantha Christmas known as just Cindy Christmas[1] (born February 27, 1985) is a Barbadian writer, best known for her poetry and science fiction novels. She has written over 18 books.[citation needed]

Biography[edit]

Christmas was raised by her Dominican grandmother up until the age of 12. Around 1998, she moved to the United States to live with her mother in Maryland. At age 13, Christmas began to write poetry as a way to express herself because she was very shy.

When Christmas was 18, she wrote a few poems as a joke and she sent them to an online company, but to her surprise the company wanted her permission to publish her poems in their own book. That is what inspired Christmas to become a writer.

Her poems brought her international recognition. Christmas illustrated her four children's books and she also changed the covers of her books because she was unsatisfied with them. Changing the covers also helped to boost the sales of her books.

The last name Christmas oriented from Dominica. Christmas was named after Cyndi Lauper. When Christmas was just 19, she had her daughter at MedStar Washington Hospital Center on July 28, 2004.
