Citizen Integrator
A Citizen Integrator is an end user who, similar to a Citizen Developer, can develop software without in-depth knowledge of programming language. In contrast to the Citizen Developer, there is a focus on integration (software) between front-end and back-end or various applications.[1]
For this purpose, companies can provide their business users with integration platforms on which employees can access different data sources (e.g. enterprise resource planning systems such as SAP, customer relationship management systems such as Salesforce or Data Lakes, extract data, transform it into other formats, and transfer it to other applications or data stores. Programming is done using low-code platforms.

Advantages
- Users from [[business department departments] do not have to submit their [[requirements analysis (computer science)|requirements (computer science)] to IT departments[10] and thereby run the risk of a semantic gap, but can provide and use the application as [[self-service technologies|self-service
- Multi-disciplinary teams must be formed for the success of Citizen Integrator projects, which is an [[Agile Software Development agile] Culture and digital transformation of the company promotes[11]
- The time-to-market of software product lines can be reduced[12]
- Within a company, integration work can be standardized and automated[13]
Disadvantages / risks
- If Citizen Integrator projects without the control or guidance of a company's own competence center or Center of Excellence are introduced, there are potential security, compliance, governance and technical debt risks[14]
- Due to the lack of standardization and the rapid development of the market, a supplier risk could arise if tactical planning and sufficient knowledge for market assessment are not available[15]
- Citizen Integrator projects are often accompanied by unrealistic expectations,[16] so that e.g. technological adaptations of old systems are not considered
