Citizen Science Global Partnership

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Citizen Science Global Partnership is an international network-of-networks that seeks to promote and advance Citizen Science for a sustainable world.[1]. Launched in December 2017 at the United Nations Environment Programme Science-Policy-Business Forum[2], Citizen Science Global brings together existing networks of Citizen Science researchers and practitioners with advisory boards representing policy, business, and community-based perspectives. The CSGP also had a large delegation and presence in the 2019 United Nations Environment Programme Science-Policy-Business Forum[3], where they issued a declaration in the closing plenary [4]. The secretariat of the CSGP is currently hosted at the Wilson Center, and the founding members include the Citizen Science Association in the US, the European Citizen Science Association, the Australian Citizen Science Association, and the forming CitizenScience.Asia and African Citizen Science Association[5].

Another aim of the CSGP is to understand and track the contributions of Citizen Science to supporting sustainable development, including through an index that connects Citizen Science to the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs)[6]. To do this a SDG and Citizen Science Maximization working group has been established to coordinate such activities and develop understanding about how best the Citizen Science can contribute to the SDGs [7]
