City College of Angeles (CCA) is a free-tuition, local government–funded higher education institution in the independent City of Angeles, Pampanga, Philippines. It was established in 2011 through an ordinance passed by the Angeles City Council and subsequently approved by then-Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan Sr.
History
The City College of Angeles was formally created by Ordinance No. 294, s. 2011, passed by the Angeles City Council and approved by then-Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, Sr., with the goal of making higher education accessible to local youth in the independent city.[1]
In its early years, CCA offered technical-vocational (TechVoc) programs such as Computer Hardware Servicing and Front Office, initially housed in the Angeles City Library and Information Center. On January 24, 2012, a blessing ceremony was held in Barangay Pampang for the college grounds and a time capsule was laid, during construction of a new ₱320-million building designed to accommodate up to 4,000 students.
In later years, further degree programs were added, including performing arts, English language studies, psychology, and accountancy. The college has pursued accreditation: notably, in 2023, seven bachelor programs received formal accreditation from the ALCUCOA, including BS Computer Science, BS Information Systems, BS Tourism Management, BS Entrepreneurship, BLIS, Physical Education, and Technical-Vocational Teacher Education.[2]
Under the administration of Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr., Infrastructure has grown as well: in 2022, a new 4-storey, 20-classroom building was inaugurated, funded in part by a ₱50-million grant from PAGCOR, expanding CCA’s capacity to serve more students.[3] Earlier, in 2021, the city government broke ground on additional classrooms (25-unit expansion) through a ₱209-million project to further increase CCA’s student capacity.[4]
