History[edit]
In February 2018 fans of Clapton FC voted into existence a break-away club, Clapton Community FC following discontent about the way that Clapton FC had been run[7]. Clapton Community FC is owned and run by its supporters, with each shareholder having an equal vote. The clubs first game was a friendly against Holland FC on 21st July 2018, which they won 5-0. The Clubs first league game was away to Ealing Town FC, winning 2-1. Over the first months of playing competitive football Clapton drew crowds of 200 to 500, comparable to sides in the highest divisions of non-league football. [8] [9]
No pasarán' Away Shirt[edit]
In June 2018 the club announced an away kit inspired by the flag of the Second Spanish Republic featuring the slogan 'No pasarán', meaning "they shall not pass", which was used by anti-fascist fighters in the 1930s[10][11]. The shirt quickly went viral with more than 5,400 pre-orders by August 2018, bringing international media attention to the club[12][13][14]. [15]
