The Claremont House is a Second Empire home located in Rome, Georgia.

Yancey residency[edit]

On April 29, 1874 or 1875[1][2] Hamilton "Colonel" Yancey married Florence Julia Peterson and together they had seven or eight[3][4] children. In 1882, Mr. Yancey had the Claremont House built. Once completed, Mrs. Yancey named the house in honor of her favorite cousin, Clare de Graffenried. Three generations of the Yancey family lived in the home, until it was sold in an auction in the early 1960s.[5]
