Claudette McGowan is a Canadian global information technology professional, podcast host, and children's book author.[1]

Professional Life

Claudette McGowan is currently the global executive officer for cybersecurity at TD Canada, as well as the host of technology podcast C Suite.[2] McGowan helped launch the female-focused angel fund, Phoenix Fire, focused on early stage tech startups.[3] She is the chair of the Coalition of Innovation Leaders Against Racism, an organization launched in 2020.[4]

McGowan authored the children's book, Triple Threat, published in 2017.[5]

At the Elevate Tech Festival in September 2019, McGowan interviewed Michelle Obama in Toronto[6] That same year, McGowan participated in a CBC News live panel of "female change makers" for International Women's Day.[7]

Accolades

The National Angel Capital Organization highlighted McGowan as a business leader who is "driving positive change" in Canada, alongside Mohamad Fakih, Carol Anne Hilton and John Stackhouse.[8]

Women's Executive Network named McGowan as one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2019.[9] That same year, AdWeek magazine named McGowan as a Toronto Brand Star and she was included in Digital Finance Institute's list of Canada's Top 50 Women in FinTech.[10] [11] Toronto Life magazine included McGowan in their annual Top 50 Most Influential Torontonians list in 2019[12] and 2020.[13] In 2021, she was the recipient of the Harry Jerome Award in Technology. [14]

Personal Life

In 2011, McGowan earned her MBA from Athabasca University while working at BMO. She became pregnant with her second child during the last year of her studies.[15]

McGowan is the founder of the Black Arts & Innovation Expo.[16]
