Claudia Eugenia Cornejo Mohme (Lima, October 3rd, 1981) is a Peruvian politician. She served from November 18th, 2020 to 28th July, 2021 in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism under the Francisco Sagasti administration.

Biography

She was born in Lima, October 3rd, 1981. She is the daughter of María Eugenia Mohme Seminario and Fernando Cornejo Herrera. She is also the niece of the former president Martín Vizcarra[1], granddaughter of the journalist Gustavo Mohme Llona, and a descendant of the scientist Scipión Llona.

She studied in the San Silvestre School in Lima.

Later, she studied political science and government in Lafayette College, Pennsylvania for her bachelors.[2] She completed her masters in political communication at the London School of Economics as well as a degree in commercial management at the University of Piura.

In 2002, she joined the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism as the viceminister of Foreign Trade Alfredo Ferrero Diez-Canseco's assistant. In 2003, she became an advisor to Minister Ferrero, a position she held until August 2005..

In 2006, she became the advisor of Executive Direction in the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PromPerú) until 2009.

In October 2009, she was designated as the Deputy Director of Domestic Tourism, a position she held until January 2010.

In January 2010, she was appointed National Director of Tourism Development of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, a position she held until July 2011. In August 2011, she was appointed Vice Minister of Tourism of Peru by President Ollanta Humala, a position she held until November 2013 under the administration of José Silva Martinot.

From August 2014 to August 2016 she was the Consulting Director of Deloitte Peru.

From 2016 to 2019 she was General Manager of the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions.

She is a member of the Gustavo Mohme Llona foundation.

Political life

Cornejo began her political career in the 2020 Peruvian parliamentary election, running for Congress of the Republic of Peru with the Purple Party. However, she was not elected.
