Claudia Post (born May 17, 1947) is an American businesswoman who specializes in marketing, supply chain, and logistics. She is known for founding successful companies in the transportation and cannabis industries.
Post is widely recognized as a successful female business owner in her home city of Philadelphia, PA.[1] She is credited as being one of the first cannabis entrepreneurs in the state of Pennsylvania and has been a voice in the industry since its earliest days. [2]
Post is the CEO of the cannabis marketing and consulting agency MOST Consulting [3], as well as the cannabis supply chain management company Scarlet Express. [4] Both businesses are based out of Philadelphia.
Post has also held important roles in business associations including the Director of the Messenger Courier Association of the Americas[5] and President of the Mail Systems Management Association. [6]
Due to her advocacy efforts for medical cannabis in Pennsylvannia, Post has a reputation for helping patients with ailments like Crohn’s disease and epilepsy better understand the benefits of medical marijuana.[7]
Early Life[edit]
Post was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended Temple University.
Career[edit]
Diamond Transportation Group[edit]
In 1990, Post founded the Diamond Transportation Group in Pennsylvannia.
The company was originally named Diamond Courier Service and offered bicycle messenger services in Philadelphia.[8] In 1993, Post expanded her business offerings to include package and freight shipping. [9]
Rebranded as Diamond Transportation Group, the company experienced exceptional growth in its earliest years.[10] The business eventually shifted its focus entirely toward shipping. [11]
At its peak, Diamond Transportation Group had twelve warehouses throughout the eastern United States and employed hundreds of people.[12] Post also gained recognition for being a female entrepreneur in an industry run mostly by men. [13]
Post was recognized for her accomplishments as the 1994 Eastern Pennsylvania Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration[14], as well as the 2001 Mercury Award from Joffe’s Magazine. [15]
Smokin' Hot Solutions[edit]
In 2010, after being urged to join the cannabis industry by her son[16], Post founded the cannabis marketing agency Smokin’ Hot Solutions. [17] Since he was an established glassblower in the industry, Post’s son who goes by the name “Snic Barnes” was able to advise her on business opportunities in the early days of legal cannabis. [18]
Since the medical cannabis industry didn’t start in Pennsylvania until 2018[19], Smokin’ Hot Solutions saw many changes in the marketplace. [20]
During her years with Smokin’ Hot Solutions, Post also helped educate medical patients in Pennsylvannia on how to get medical marijuana cards.[21]
MOST Consulting[edit]
In 2020, Post rebranded Smokin’ Hot Solutions as MOST Consulting. The name is the result of a new partnership formed between Post and one of her employees Jon Monk.[22] The rebranding of Post’s company also happened parallel to the legalization of medical cannabis in Pennsylvania. MOST Consulting expanded on Smokin’ Hot Solutions by offering refined advertising, design, and strategy services [23]. These offerings were created for a changing cannabis industry that came to more closely resemble the traditional business world. [24]
Due to MOST Consulting, Post became a recognized female business leader in the cannabis industry.
Scarlet Express[edit]
In 2021, Post combined her experience in logistics, business, and supply chain to start the cannabis delivery service Scarlet Express.[25]
Scarlet Express is a third-party service that allows medical and recreational cannabis consumers to order products from dispensaries and have them delivered directly to their homes.[26] Scarlet Express helps retail dispensaries that don’t have delivery services expand with this offering. [27]
In 2023, Scarlet Express partnered with wholesale cannabis platform Leaflink to offer commercial cannabis delivery services in New Jersey.[28]
